Clash detection is used to analyze the potential conflicts between multiple elements in a 3D file. In this report follow the status of potential clashes from a Revit or Navisworks file. Know what clashes have been reviewed, unresolved, resolved, and approved by the BIM manager.

What is Clash Reporting?

Clash detection is the identification of elements that take up the same space and thus interfere with each other (e.g., plumbing, walls, etc.) This is not a new process, but with new software capabilities on 3D models, you can avoid conflicts in the design process rather than on a construction site.

Some software such as Navisworks, ArchiCAD and Revit can be used to identify clashes, this Data App is connected to Navisworks.

This Data App is connected to Navisworks but there are other software options that can be used to identify clashes such as ArchiCAD and Revit (view all of our available integrations here.) This Data App can integrate with these tools, allowing you to combine all Clashes to avoid conflicts.

The Objective of Simple Clash Reporting

The running of an automated clash detection process not only reduces the manual time required to check the models but can also lower the overall construction costs of a project. Clash detection will also ensure any unnecessary delays prior to fabrication and minimize price overruns.

Clash Reports allow users to enhance the design review and coordination process through more effective communication of clash results data.

3D models have capabilities to visually identify interference between objects and allow designers and modelers to quickly apply a solution to the model.

Clash detection helps reduce project errors in ongoing or completed model work before construction occurs. It is essential for recognizing and flagging conflicts that occur in BIM, particularly when working with several models which are then incorporated into one federated model.

A simple clash report is a report that shows a breakdown of clashes and their review status. The report could be shared internally or externally to keep all project stakeholders up to date with progress.

The sole  purpose is to  avoid conflicts and reduce problems during construction. By performing a simple clash report you can avoid problems such as going over budget, and delays in project completion.

How to use a data app

1. Create a Dataflow from this template

Start from a template data-app, or start from scratch with a blank data flow.

2. Connect Data and Customize

Replace the existing source with your own, or customize it to your needs.

3. Share as a Data App

Give access to the app by creating a shared view link. Use the iOS app for a great mobile experience.
