Coalesce

You may have data that is separated more that one column. This new node simplifies combining one or many columns based on the first non-empty value.

How Do I Add The Coalesce Node?

Add Coalesce to any node in your Dataflow. Select any node and use the Transform (+) button to open the list of options to select Coalesce. You could work with the node in the Dataflow tab or use the Properties panel.


Coalesce Node Options

The Coalesce node is broken up into: 

  1. Select which fields to Coalesce.
  2. Give a name to the new column.
  3. Option: Remove original columns.
  4. Re-Order, and Delete a Coalesced Column?


1. Select which fields to Coalesce.

Using the dropdown, select the first column you would like to combine. Then click the +Add Column button and pick the second column - you could keep going and add more than two.


2. Give a name to the new column.

Use the text box to enter a new name for the resulting column.

3. Optional: Remove original columns.

Exclude the original columns by checking the option Remove Source Columns option.

4. Re-Order, and Delete a Coalesced Column?

Use the drag bar on the left to re-order coalesce order upwards or downwards to the desired position. Remove columns by clicking the "x" button to the right of each column dropdown.

Each Coalesce node will add a new column to the right of your data.
