Energy Utilization Index (EUI) Estimation

Energy Utilization Index (EUI) Estimation

Owner & Operators
Architecture & Engineering

The AIA has launched the 2030 initiative toward carbon neutrality. As designers strive to create more efficient buildings that meet the net-zero standard, they need tools to estimate how much energy will go into the construction and utilization of a new project.

Energy Use Intensity (EUI) is a way to measure how much energy a new building will consume throughout its life cycle from the day the team breaks ground.

To help you get started, we built the Energy Utilization Index Data App, which lets you enter baseline values for the percentage of energy that different building components will consume. You could use this app as a reference as you iterate on your design to ensure you stay on target. Feel free to play around with it below and click the Use Template button below to add it to one of your Toric projects.

How to use a data app

1. Create a Dataflow from this template

Start from a template data-app, or start from scratch with a blank data flow.

2. Connect Data and Customize

Replace the existing source with your own, or customize it to your needs.

3. Share as a Data App

Give access to the app by creating a shared view link. Use the iOS app for a great mobile experience.
